Bluejay FAQ

Questions about joining and finding care.

Everything parents need to know about the local community, sitter profiles, messaging, and membership.

Parents can join through an invitation, or request to join from the Bluejay homepage. Bluejay currently serves families in San Anselmo and Fairfax.

The membership is what keeps Bluejay a private, local community rather than an open marketplace. It covers running Bluejay, and it means there are no booking fees, so sitters keep 100% of what they earn.

Only approved sitters can view parent profiles and childcare requests.

Every sitter has a profile with a photo, how long they've been sitting and how they care for kids, and when they're available. You'll also see their rating, reviews from other parents, and how many families at your child's school have booked them.

Yes. Parents can message any sitter directly to ask questions, ask for their references, and see if it's a good fit before booking.

Yes. We love to see repeat bookings, and you can request your favorite sitters when posting a job.

Sitters apply to join. We read every application and talk with each sitter ourselves before inviting them onto Bluejay. It's a conversation, not a background check: we're getting to know them, not certifying them. Choosing the right sitter for your family is still your call, so message them, ask for references, and meet before you book.

Not yet. Bluejay is currently serving families in San Anselmo and Fairfax, with plans to expand to other towns in Marin. If you'd like Bluejay in your town, request to join and tell us where you live.
