Safety at Bluejay
How to report someone, how blocking works, and how fast we answer.
If a child is in immediate danger, call 911. Bluejay is not an emergency service and we may not see this right away.
How quickly we respond
Every report is read by a Bluejay founder within 24 hours. Not a queue, not a contractor. One of the people who built this.
Reports about a child’s safety, sexual content involving a minor, or harassment and threats are treated as urgent and looked at sooner. Some of these suspend the reported account automatically while we review, before anyone has read the report.
If we need more detail we will email you. We will not tell the person you reported who reported them.
What you can report
Urgent, and acted on first:
- A child's safety or wellbeing
- Sexual content or conduct involving a minor
- Harassment, threats, or violence
Everything else, within the same commitment:
- Alcohol or drug use
- Fake profile, or lying about their age
- Spam, or pressure to go off Bluejay
- Discrimination
- A payment problem
- Didn't show up, or is unreliable
- Something else
Blocking
Blocking is immediate and needs no approval from us. It works both ways: neither of you can message or book the other, and the conversation leaves both of your lists.
Blocking someone never stops you reporting them, and it never stops them being reported by anyone else. Those are separate on purpose.
Blocking does not delete anything. The conversation stays in our records, because if something went wrong the history is the evidence. You can unblock someone at any time from your settings.
Sitters under 18
Sitters can join from age 13. A sitter under 18 has a parent or guardian attached to their account, who approves them and can see their conversations.
A guardian can block on their sitter’s behalf, and can report anyone their sitter is talking to.
